(EMAILWIRE.COM, March 30, 2013 ) Belfast, Northern Ireland -- Grooms are more hands-on than ever in wedding planning, according to a Recent survey by The Daily Mail, contradicting the stereotype that men are not involved in wedding preparations.
About 60 percent of the couples surveyed by Austin Reed showed that grooms are much more involved in planning than in the past. The same number said weddings today require more
planning because they are bigger in size and scale Naturally there are going to be elements of any wedding which are more suited to the bride or groom, an Austin Reed spokesperson said but it is important that there is room for the groom to stand out on his big day too.
According to the survey, grooms jobs include organizing the band, suits for the best men, ushers and dads and choosing the wedding car. Over half of the men polled had the final say in the date of their big day while 56 percent chose the venue. With the economic climate the way it is, grooms also tend to put themselves in charge of haggling with suppliers to get the best price.
Many brides and grooms now tackle wedding preparations together said a spokesman from Red Groomswear, a Formalwear company in Belfast. Gone are the days when the bride does all of the planning and the groom just turns up. The survey done by Austin Reed went on to say that due to the huge cost of weddings it now makes sense that the responsibility is shared.
Grooms do tend to have a helping hand though. For grooms with a significant interest in menswear, we have a wide variety of styles and a team of experts who can discuss every single detail, said a spokesman from Red Groomswear. For grooms who dont have experience with formalwear, that same team can serve as a guide through every step the process, making planning as easy as possible.
