The Sony Ericsson is making their Playstation certified handset Xperia Play 4G more widespread by making it available from AT&T. It could be considered a step up from the Verizon Wireless version as it runs on AT&T HSPA+ 4G network. The Xperia Play 4G has the comfortable contour everyone expects from Xperia handsets and fits well in your hand either to make phone calls, use apps or in landscape to play games. The phone measures 4.69 by 2.44 by 0.63 and weighs 6.17 ounces, so it’s a little heavier than most phones its same size. The extra weight comes from the game pad that slides out from under the screen. On the game pad are two circular touch controls and two physical button directional controls. These controls are also used for apps, to make calls, send messages and use standard features.

The screen is 4 inches and has 480x854 pixel resolution with great details, deep colors and wide viewing angles. This is important as you’ll be moving the screen around while playing games. Android Gingerbread has a few tweaks from Sony Ericsson Timescape, but is mostly pure Android. The Xperia Play 4G comes with Asphalt 6 Navigator, Crash Bandicoot, Dungeon Defenders: Second Wave, Madden NFL 11, Star Battalion, Tower Bloxx: My City, and The Sims 3 preloaded. It also has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, DLNA, and tethering. The processor can easily handle everything you need to do with a 1 GHz Scorpion ARMv7. Combine this with an Adreno GPU graphics processor and 512MB of RAM and 512MB of ROM and you're set for the day.

We recommend protecting your Play 4G with either a protective cover or a leather case. The OtterBox Commuter Series case for the Sony Ericsson Play 4G phone offers the best of both worlds; incorporating elements from the rugged Defender Series line with the silicone, skin-like Impact Series line to create a slick Sony Ericsson Play 4G case designed with your style in mind. It's protection without the bulk. The exposed silicone corners dissipate impact away from the Sony Ericsson Play 4G device for additional bump and shock protection and the smooth outer layer allows the case to easily slide into your pocket or purse. All buttons are fully functional through the Sony Ericsson Play 4G case and all ports are accessible through silicone plugs.

We also recommend either an external battery pack or a vehicle charger to keep the 1500mAh battery charged. The Motorola P893 Portable Power Pack is a compact and lightweight on-the-go universal Sony Ericsson Play 4G charging solution, which allows you to leave your cords and wall plugs at home. Yet with enough energy to provide 8 additional hours of talk time to the average phone. Capable of charging two devices at the same time and can charge any product with a Micro USB port or USB connection. Upgraded from P793 with a 30% capacity increase, it offers a full replacement charge for your Sony Ericsson Play 4G phone so you will always have the power you need.
